Laptop GMA Gaming Accelerator

Laptops with integrated graphic accelerators like Intel’s GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) are not capable of providing enough power for state of the art computer games. They do run old school computer games well but fail when it comes to the likes of Crysis or other state of the art computer games that require high end graphic accelerators.

Many users do not know on the other hand that there are fundamental differences between different Intel GMA chipsets. While some chipsets like the GMA 950 support Windows Aero and QuartzGL and provide a solid performance in games many older chipsets do not. This can largely be attributed to the fact that many of these Intel chipsets are underclocked to 133/166 MHz instead of 400 MHz.

GMA Booster (via Shell City) takes this knowledge and provides a software interface for both Windows and Macintosh computers that boosts the chipset clock to 400 MHz without voltage changes or affecting system stability. The program has been tested to be working with the following chipsets: Intel 945GM/GME/GMS/GSE and 943/940GML/GU Express featuring GMA 950).

While a performance boost of up to 2.4 looks good on paper it can be a completely different picture in real life situations. The developers of the software program have tested the performance in 3D Mark 06. The result was an increase of 2.2x in single texturing / multi texturing performance and an 1.8x increase in Pixel Shader frames per seconds.

Values might differ depending on the Intel graphics accelerator that has been build into the laptop but it is usually safe to say that a performance increase is visible and likely.

The only nuisance is that the developers let the software expire frequently. The only option in this case is to download the latest version from the developer’s homepage again.

MWSnap a free screen capturing software

Quote:

I’m always going the extra mile when I take screenshots in Windows XP. I hit the Print button on the keyboard, open GIMP and paste the contents into a new image, cut the part of the image that I need, resize it and finally save it to be able to upload it to my ftp.

The worst part of this job is that it takes a lot of time to complete all the steps and I think I found a nice free screen capturing software with the name MWSnap which can optimize this process.

Four different ways of creating screenshots are supported by MWSnap: Fixed Rectangle, Any Rectangle, Window / Menu or Full Desktop. The Any Rectangle method is working best for my purposes.

I can draw a rectangle around the part of my screen that I want to capture, fine tune it with the cursor keys and the comfortable zoom feature, and left-click when I’m done to capture the rectangle.

The Fixed Rectangle captures rectangles of a predefined size that you specify. This is useful if you want to take a series of captures that should all have the same size. Window and Desktop mode should be self explanatory.

Hotkeys can be used to speed it up further, CTRL + Shift + A would be a shortcut for Any Rectangle for instance. MWSnap provides the user with additional functions, a ruler and zoom function for instance that make it possible to create precise screenshots.

Images can be saved in a number of formats including jpg,gif and png with the possibility to select the quality level of the saved image.

Đây là link down:

Code:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/5/7/4578AFD6-A0B6-4724-89E5-BA9395EA6A6D/ZunePackage40.exe

Đây là link down:

Code:

http://nchc.dl.sourceforge.net/project/pidgin/Pidgin/2.6.4/pidgin-2.6.4.exe

Cái này xài đơn giản, tương thích với nhiều os như mac,ubuntu,fedora....
