Re: Learning English with vOzers :D

well, I'm taking IELTS test this August.
There isn't much time left for me, I have to get at least 6.0 overall :(
Any ideas how to improve all four English skills?
I am really bad at writing and speaking (lack of confidence, ideas and also I don't know how to write in formal way)

Well, I'm not good at English, my English's bad and is becoming worse and worse. I'm not sure that I can understand simple sentences, so dont use advanced English with me okay xD
Btw, Would you be good enough to explain to me what is the difference between these prepositional phrases: good at and good in?
Which of the following is correct?
1) She was the best in the class in Greek, but in mathematics and biology she was not so good
2) She was the best in the class at Greek, but in mathematics and biology she was not so good

To be good at and to be good in are often interchangeable and there is no easy rule to follow, so I'm a little confusing abt it @_@
"Good at" phrase can be used at any circumstances, and can replaced "good in". "Good in" only used in phrases like "good in bed" but not "good in sex"

well, if you keep giving things out free, people will never learn of the true value of what you've done, thus, they will not use it effectively. In most case they will expect to have it free for the 2nd time, 3rd time and so on. You will soon enough realize that you're being used and, at that time, it's damn difficult to start refusing without hurting people.

"give and take" relationship also results in an unfair society where some people, somehow, has the chance to "take" more than the others.

Free or not free is not only about money.

there's not much time left, and now you wandering around asking for a studying method... If you have problems with confidence, forget the marks and take the test very easy. This is only a test anyway, you can take it as many time as you need to. If you cannot then you cannot.

Writing is not that difficult. There's many tips about IELTS writing skills all over the internet. Practice, practice and practice more. You can also prepare a general essay structure and only need to replace a few points to match whatever topic appearing on the test papers.

Speaking is a tough part, especially when you've never talked to a foreigner. Luckily the interviewer would be friendly enough to help you to pass the test (forget about the angry teachers in your class...). Let just think like this: you actually paid them to be here to ask questions. So, there's no need to fear (Underdog is here... if you watch that movie).

If you can express yourself, you're rock. There's no right or wrong answer for their questions. If the questions are too difficult, or they are about something that you've never heard of, just tell them directly, don't just go for a big circle and finally cannot answer the question.

Re: Learning English with vOzers :D

A guy goes down for breakfast and it is quite obvious that his wife
has the hump with him. He asks what is the matter. She replies, "Last
night you were talking in your sleep and I want to know who Linda is?"
Thinking quickly on his feet he tells her that Linda was 'Lucky Linda'
and was actually a name of a horse that he bet on that day and won
£40. She seemed quite happy with the explanation and he went off to
work. When he got home that night, his wife had the hump with him
again. asing her what the matter was now, she replied "Your horse
phoned."
