"Term" mean The time for which anything lasts; any limited time; as, a term of five years; the term of life. maybe equal to "chương trình học"
"Semester" mean one of two division of an academic year, equal to "học kì"
just my two minutes of google

Then think twice, babe.

Look, "term" is generally used to describe a period of time in any aspect, while "semester" or "quarter" is particularly said in education. In other words, one school year is constituted on a semester system or a quarter system.

So based on that, we could ask a question like "How long is a term in this school?", then they would be able to answer "It's two semesters" or "It's three quarters", depending on which system that school is on.

you are confused between term and semester
1 semester = 2 terms

nah, just google it and find out the search result number(the bigger number, the more popular it is). But in some case(in the unequal or did not have the same meaning, this semester-term for example) you cannot use that compare method.
