Only stupiest guy think that those words i make come out from a translator program. I learn English from movies, and don't care about some grammar. I can talk more formally but i don't like it, i hate english that by the book, it's not what people talk everyday. You know, the word "fuck" that people in some country speaking English it's not real fuck like "mother fuck" as some vietnames think. I come to the office, i some time hear my boss say "you fuck me huh?" i think there some thing wrong with this guy, but then he explain to me. It's that when you did something wrong to someone, then it mean you fuck them. Some time i got my email from a partner in Singapore, they're very good at english, but still have some certain mistake in their email, they know it but don't care. what they speak or write is always short, easy understand, and bring full of their idea, inclue their emotion. You know some speaking in vietnames like "fe^ loi`", something like that, very intersting and is what people likely to use in everyday life. So stupid guy like you may have that stupid thought (i just more prefer use "that damn thought"). Come and spend the rest of your life to find out that fucking translator. I wish you could, lol. My word i know have many mistake but i don't care, it's just my nature english, not by any book. A lot of english word that i use, i understand it and don't care what it is translated in vietnamese. Many people speaking english come from singapore, bangladesh, india (i may mistake with those names, don't care), their english is really hard to understand, someone like the worker, they speak fluenty, very fast, and good listening, but they only use a few way of speaking, it repeat with a little word like : have, have not, coming, .., these words mostly show up on their speaking. These are enough for work, and i don't make fun out of that . So you jay with your little head, your little knowledge don't mess me with some stupid coment like that, you noob. |

I'm talking about Jay. You know, this guy, he read those comment i wrote, and he find out some thing that doesn't match with what he had leaned or know, or what he'd read in some book. So his head start working, his cpu is full load, and he come to a conclusion that i have used some translator =)).

In most countries & companies, strong command in English always make the differences between a normal executive staff and a more senior one. I am not talking about grammar but it's all about the way you express your ideas in a proper manner. If you only use English at its "street" level, yes it may still be sufficient for your daily communication at work. However, which boss would ever allow you to write an important report? which boss would ever allow you to write an important email to client or to talk in a meeting with customers? Countries like Singapore are very open and easy to foreigner, therefore they accept all kind of English as long as they can understand it. But it does not mean that they don't really "mind" it and it does not mean that they won't "judge" you base on the language you use. English proficiency, in another term, is how you express your self in a PROPER manner. If you are to be promoted to the senior or management level, how can you provide training & coaching to your subordinate with such improper English? In academic, it's even worse. I'm working in an institution which has more than 3000 students coming from many countries all over the world so I have a high chance to communicate with many different types of English. Yours is not the worst, it's better than many other Vietnamese actually, but it's not good enough for you to either pursuit a higher position in your career or to get deeper into an English speaking society. Grammar mistakes are common and acceptable, but improper or faulty use of English is a different story. When you learn something from an unofficial source (like movies, games, etc...) make sure you don't learn everything without justification. One thing I learned from my boss: using proper language is also one of the way to show your respect to the one who is talking to you.

I just wanted to state some errors you've made in your recent post but i gave up. You're helpless and you're...hmmm.... stupid enough not to differentiate formal and informal English. Informal English doesn't mean terrible wrong usage of grammar and vocabulary. In contrast, it requires correct vocabulary and appropriate grammar most of the time. Example: Terribly wrong informal language: Are you fucking me? (as you described) Correction: Are you fucking WITH me? Do you get what I'm trying to tell you? It's okay if you wanna use an informal way to express what you're thinking BUT please use it carefully and correctly because informal doesn't mean incorrect. Peace. |
